Estadio José Zorrilla (1940)

Estadio José Zorrilla was a historic multi-use stadium located in Valladolid, Spain, primarily serving as the home ground for Real Valladolid football matches. Opened on November 3, 1940, it hosted its inaugural match with a notable 4–1 victory over Arenas Club de Getxo. Originally accommodating 18,000 spectators, the stadium's capacity was temporarily increased to 22,000 for a high-profile match against Real Madrid in the 1980–81 season. The stadium was replaced by a new Estadio José Zorrilla in 1982, with the reserve team continuing to use the venue until its demolition in 1987. Today, the site is home to a branch of the El Corte Inglés department store, marking the end of an era for this once vibrant sports venue.
