Pike Place Market Gum Wall

The Gum Wall is a landmark in Post Alley at Pike Place Market that is covered in chewed chewing gum and is a popular photo spot. It originated in the early 1990s when patrons waiting in the Market Theater queue began sticking gum to the wall. The city cleaned the wall in November 2015, removing roughly 2,000 pounds of gum, but the wall reaccumulated gum and continues to be a frequently photographed, meme-shared location.
