The Alamo (Mission San Antonio de Valero)

Originally founded as Mission San Antonio de Valero in the early 18th century, the site includes surviving mission-era masonry and later military-era modifications. The complex is best known as the site of the 1836 Battle of the Alamo during the Texas Revolution. The chapel and adjoining structures visible today include elements from the late 18th and early 19th centuries and have been preserved as a historic landmark and museum. The Alamo remains an iconic example of Spanish mission architecture adapted over time for military and commemorative uses.
