Atomic Liquors (oldest freestanding bar)

Atomic Liquors opened in 1945 and is widely recognized as Las Vegas's oldest freestanding bar. During the era of atmospheric nuclear testing at the Nevada Test Site, patrons used the bar's rooftop to watch mushroom clouds in the distance, making it associated with that period of regional infrastructure and history. The building and business represent surviving mid-century neighborhood commercial infrastructure in downtown Las Vegas.
