Columbus Auditorium

The Columbus Auditorium refers to two significant venues in Columbus, Ohio, with the first operating from 1897 to 1910 and the second from 1927 to 1992. The original auditorium, located on Goodale Street, hosted a variety of events including conventions, revivals, and the first game of the Ohio State Buckeyes men's basketball team. It was notable for its ornate wooden structure but was ultimately abandoned after a roof collapse. The second auditorium, built in Downtown Columbus, featured a 6,000-seat capacity and hosted events like the Columbus Auto Show and operas. In 1944, it was sold to the Lazarus department store, which transformed it into an annex before its demolition in 1992. Today, the site of the first auditorium is part of Interstate 670, while the second's legacy continues to be remembered in the city's history.
