Shee Alms House

Shee Alms House, established in 1582 by the influential Shee family in Kilkenny, Ireland, is a historically significant Tudor period almshouse originally intended to shelter twelve poor individuals. Initially named the Hospital of Jesus, it reflects the family's prominence during its founding. The almshouse operated until 1830, serving various roles including a Catholic chapel and a hospital. After changing ownership and uses over the centuries, it was restored by Kilkenny Corporation in 1978 and now functions as a tourist office, showcasing its architectural features, including cut-limestone details and a distinctive gable front.
