Liberty Hill (La Grange, Georgia)

Liberty Hill is a historic Greek Revival plantation house located in La Grange, Georgia, built in the 1830s or 1840s. Originally owned by John T. Boykin, the plantation spans 150 acres and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The house features classic architectural elements, including four fluted Doric columns on its two-storey front porch, and was constructed largely with slave labor. It exemplifies ante-bellum river plantations and reflects the prosperity of the cotton industry in the South. Remarkably, Liberty Hill has remained a private residence throughout its history, surviving the Civil War and continuing to attract interest from tourists and researchers alike.
