Multnomah County Central Library (A.E. Doyle–designed central library)

Designed by architect A.E. Doyle and opened in 1913, the Multnomah County Central Library is an Italian Renaissance–style municipal library building in downtown Portland. The library underwent a major renovation and seismic retrofit that was completed in 1997, which restored historic interiors while modernizing building systems. It remains the main branch of the Multnomah County Library system and a notable example of early-20th-century civic architecture in the city.
