The Finger Rock Rearing Unit, located in Yampa, Colorado, is a cold water fish production facility established in 1950. Nestled near Bear River and at the base of the scenic Flat Tops Wilderness Area, this 34-acre site plays a crucial role in supporting healthy trout populations across Colorado. The facility raises approximately 460,000 fingerling rainbow and brown trout, along with 170,000 catchable-sized rainbow trout, which are stocked in various locations from Steamboat Lake to Poudre River Valley.
