Emmet Building

The Emmet Building is a historic 16-story neo-Renaissance structure located at 89–95 Madison Avenue in Manhattan's NoMad neighborhood. Designed by architects John Stewart Barney and Stockton B. Colt for Dr. Thomas Addis Emmet, a notable gynecological surgeon and author, the building features intricate terracotta Gothic Revival ornamentation and a lavish lobby adorned with marble and bronze. Constructed between 1911 and 1912, it originally served commercial tenants while Emmet resided in a penthouse for over 40 years. The building was designated a landmark in 2018, highlighting its architectural significance and role in the area's early 20th-century development. Its unique design may have been inspired by the Woolworth Building, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers alike.
