Christiansborg Palace (1st)

The first Christiansborg Palace, built in 1745 on Slotsholmen in Copenhagen, served as the grand residence for King Christian VI of Denmark-Norway. Designed in the Rococo style, it was the largest palace in Europe for a brief period, featuring 348 rooms and lavish decorations. Unfortunately, it was nearly completely destroyed by a fire in 1794, with only a few structures surviving, including the Royal Stables and court theatre. The palace's impressive architecture and rich history make it a significant site for tourists and researchers alike, as it laid the foundation for the current Christiansborg Palace, which now houses the Danish Parliament and other key government offices.
