Mason's Hall (Richmond, Virginia)

Mason's Hall, built between 1785 and 1787 in Richmond's Shockoe Bottom neighborhood, is the oldest continuously used Masonic building in the United States. Originally constructed by Richmond Lodge No. 13, it now serves as the home of Richmond Randolph Lodge No. 19. The hall was funded through a lottery that faced challenges, including a devastating fire in 1787 that impacted fundraising efforts. Despite these obstacles, the building was completed and has historical significance, having hosted important meetings, including instructions for Virginia's delegates to the U.S. Constitutional Convention. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, Mason's Hall features an octagonal cupola and remains an active site for Masonic activities.
