Rissik Street Post Office

The Rissik Street Post Office, a national monument in Johannesburg, South Africa, was constructed in 1897 by architect Sytze Wierda during Paul Kruger's presidency. Once the tallest building in the city at 102 meters, it served as a vital postal hub until 1996. Designated a national monument in 1978, the building suffered significant damage from a fire in 2009, leading to a reconstruction project that began in 2016, estimated to cost R147 million.
