Hotaling Building (Jackson Square whiskey warehouse)

The Hotaling Building at 451 Jackson Street was built as a whiskey warehouse in the 19th century and is located in the Jackson Square historic commercial district. The building survived the 1906 earthquake and fires that destroyed much of nearby San Francisco, contributing to Jackson Square’s continuity as a commercial infrastructure hub. In the decades since, the structure has been adaptively reused for offices and retail while retaining its 19th-century brick warehouse character.
