Philadelphia Museum of Art (Beaux-Arts main building)

The museum's main building along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway was built 1919–1928 in a Beaux-Arts/Greek Revival idiom and features a monumental colonnaded façade and broad ceremonial steps. The project was executed by the Horace Trumbauer firm, with Julian Abele credited as the chief designer for the building. The structure's classical form and axial siting reflect early 20th-century civic planning in Philadelphia and anchor the cultural corridor of the Parkway.
