Widow Maloby's Tavern

Widow Maloby's Tavern, located in the Queen Village section of South Philadelphia, is a historic tavern building dating back to 1764. Originally built for Thomas Maloby, a rigger in the shipping industry, the tavern served as a bar and dining area for the Maloby family. After Thomas's death in 1765, his widow Christiana took over the operation, making it a community gathering spot for over a century. The building, which features a three-and-one-half-story brick structure, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 and is part of the South Front Street Historic District, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in early American history and architecture.
