Pennsylvania Railroad Freight Building

The Pennsylvania Railroad Freight Building, located in Philadelphia's University City neighborhood, is a historic freight station and warehouse built in 1929 in the Art Deco style. This six-story structure, noted for its limestone and buff-colored brick facade, served as a significant facility for GE from 1956 to 1993, where engineers contributed to NASA's reentry systems, achieving milestones like recovering the first man-made object from orbit. Designated as an Historic Aerospace Site in 2007, it has since been converted into residential space known as the Left Bank, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.
