Fort Mifflin

Fort Mifflin, located on the Delaware River, was besieged by British forces in November 1777 during the Revolutionary War as American defenders sought to delay British use of the Port of Philadelphia. Much of the fort's earthworks and masonry survive and the site was used by the U.S. Army into the 20th century before becoming a preserved historic site. It is designated a National Historic Landmark and is open for tours and living-history programs interpreting its military history.
