Centre Avenue YMCA Building

The Centre Avenue YMCA Building, located in Pittsburgh's Middle Hill District, is a historic site built in 1922 as the only YMCA for African-Americans in Western Pennsylvania. It served as a vital recreational and cultural hub for the African-American community from the 1920s to the 1950s, hosting notable symposiums featuring prominent figures during the 1930s and 1940s. Recognized for its historical significance, the building was designated a historic site by the City of Pittsburgh in 1995 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.
