Spring Creek Lodge

The Spring Creek Lodge, built in 1949 by Vernon and Alma Haik, is a historic former restaurant located in Chugiak, Alaska. It served as a vital community hub until 1974, renowned for its homemade bread and banana cream pies, and was a favorite spot for Sunday dinners among locals, including homesteaders and military personnel. The lodge played a significant role in the establishment of the town of Chugiak, contributing to local initiatives such as the creation of telephone lines and the first school. Inducted into the National Register of Historic Places in 2001, the lodge remains a symbol of the area's cultural heritage, despite closing after the new Glenn Highway bypassed its location in 1969.
