Petersen House - site where President Abraham Lincoln died

The Petersen House, located opposite Ford’s Theatre, is the boardinghouse where Abraham Lincoln was carried after being shot at the theatre and where he died on April 15, 1865. The room and house are preserved to represent the circumstances of his death and are part of the Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site. The site is interpreted and managed to present the historical event and its immediate aftermath.
