Gas Works Park on the former Seattle Gas Light plant

Gas Works Park occupies the 11-acre site of the former Seattle Gas Light Company coal gasification plant; the park preserves much of the plant's machinery and structures as landscape features. Designed by landscape architect Richard Haag, the park opened to the public in 1975 and is noted for integrating industrial remnants into recreational space. It offers panoramic views of Lake Union and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of Seattle’s industrial heritage. The preserved equipment and rusted frameworks are visible park elements rather than removed artifacts.
