United States Botanic Garden (Near the Capitol)

The United States Botanic Garden traces its institutional origins to a botanic garden authorized by Congress in 1820; the present Conservatory building on the Capitol grounds dates largely to 1933. The garden maintains indoor conservatory displays, outdoor gardens, and rotating seasonal exhibits and operates as a public plant collection and educational institution. It is managed by the Architect of the Capitol and offers public programs about plant conservation and horticulture.
