Sunnyside, also known as the Duke House, is a historic home in Charlottesville, Virginia, originally built around 1800 as a modest log dwelling. It underwent significant Gothic Revival renovations in 1858, inspired by Washington Irving's home of the same name. The house showcases distinctive architectural features such as scroll-sawn bargeboards, arched windows, and a unique fieldstone chimney. The property has a rich history, having been owned by the Duke family for generations after being purchased by Confederate officer Richard Thomas Walker Duke in 1863.
