Nashville's Parthenon and the Athena Parthenos statue

The Parthenon in Centennial Park is a full-scale replica of the ancient Parthenon in Athens, constructed for the Tennessee Centennial Exposition of 1897. Its interior houses a 42-foot-tall statue of Athena Parthenos sculpted by Alan LeQuire and installed in 1990. The Athena statue is finished with gold leaf and is a prominent example of large-scale indoor public sculpture in Nashville.
