Coolamber Hall House

Coolamber Hall House is a fascinating Anglo-Norman ruin located in County Longford, Ireland, dating back to the early 13th century. Once possibly the residence of Thomas Nugent, 4th Earl of Westmeath, this historical site was described by Samuel Lewis as the remnants of a castle besieged by Oliver Cromwell, marking the boundary of the English Pale. The hall-house features a unique two-storey structure built on a circular platform, with a large first-floor hall open to the roof and accessed via an external staircase. Visitors can explore the remains of the bawn wall and a small mural tower, all while enjoying the scenic surroundings near Lismacaffrey Village.
