War Memorial Opera House

The War Memorial Opera House, completed in 1932 and designed by Arthur Brown Jr., is an exemplar of Beaux-Arts civic architecture in San Francisco. It was built as part of the War Memorial and Performing Arts Center and has served as the longtime home of the San Francisco Opera and San Francisco Ballet. The building's grand auditorium, classical facade, and formal public spaces reflect early-20th-century monumental civic design.
