Oak Lodge and Spreydon

Oak Lodge and Spreydon are heritage-listed villas located in Newtown, Toowoomba, Queensland, built between the 1890s and 1923. Designed by the prominent architectural firm James Marks and Son, these villas showcase distinctive timber architecture and historical significance. Originally constructed as a single residence for Robert Walker Filshie, a successful plumber and timber merchant, the property was later divided into two separate homes. In 1908, it became the Spreydon Girls' College, a notable educational institution in the region. The site reflects the rich history of Toowoomba's development and the influence of local figures in the community. Visitors can appreciate the architectural beauty and historical context of these villas, which were added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 2003.
