MacAlpine (house)

MacAlpine, located in Ellicott City, Maryland, is a historic home built in 1868 by attorney James Mackubin for his wife Gabriella Peter, a descendant of Martha Washington. The house features a unique mansard roof and has been home to notable figures, including relatives of Robert E. Lee. The property, which once included slave quarters, reflects the complex history of the region. After being subdivided in the mid-20th century, MacAlpine was restored and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
