Phillips' Folly

Phillips' Folly is a historic three-story brick residence located in Maysville, Kentucky, showcasing a unique blend of Antebellum architectural styles. Completed in 1831 after a six-year construction delay, the house features Federal entrances, Greek Revival windows, and a Georgian-inspired portico. It was once owned by William B. Phillips, Maysville's second mayor, and later by John Armstrong, a key figure in Kentucky's development. The home is notable for its role in the Underground Railroad, housing runaway slaves in a basement jail cell. Today, it is a private residence and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is also rumored to be haunted, with several spirits said to inhabit it, making it an intriguing site for both tourists and researchers.
