Jagger Library

The Jagger Library, located in Cape Town, South Africa, is a historic library that has served various roles since its construction in the 1930s. Named after benefactor John William Jagger, it was once the main library of the University of Cape Town and housed a vast collection of over 500,000 volumes. After undergoing restoration to return to its original condition, it became the main library again in 2011. Unfortunately, it suffered damage from the Table Mountain fire in April 2021, but thanks to its fire detection systems, much of the collection was saved and is currently stored off-site. The library remains a significant cultural and educational landmark for visitors and researchers alike.
