Rockford Mill

Rockford Mill is a historic site in Rockford, Iowa, built in 1871 by J.T. Graham, a Vermont native who became a prominent miller during the California Gold Rush. This unique two-story gable building, notable for its custom grinding of wheat, buckwheat, cornmeal, and feed, played a crucial role in the local economy. The mill operated variously under different owners and even attempted to generate electricity in the late 19th century. Although feed milling ceased during World War II, the mill remained significant as the last operational feed mill in Floyd County until the decline of local farming. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers exploring Iowa's agricultural history.
