Twin Oaks (Washington, D.C.)

Twin Oaks is a historic 17-acre estate in the Cleveland Park neighborhood of Washington, D.C., originally completed in 1888 and designed by architect Francis Allen. It served as the residence for nine ambassadors from the Republic of China to the United States until 1979, when diplomatic ties shifted to the People's Republic of China. The estate is recognized for its architectural significance and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Currently owned by the Republic of China (Taiwan), it is used for official receptions and has recently seen a revival in Taiwan-U.S. relations, highlighted by the ceremonial raising of the ROC flag in 2015, marking a notable moment in diplomatic history.
