Flynn–Griffin Building

The Flynn–Griffin Building, a historic landmark in Des Moines, Iowa, showcases the city's architectural and social history. Constructed in two phases between 1885 and 1906, it originally housed the Peoples' Savings Bank and later became known for its retail space, including Katz Drug Store. The building is notable for its association with Edna Griffin, who, in 1948, challenged racial segregation at Katz's lunch counter, earning her the title 'Iowa Rosa Parks.'
