Clock Tower of Pristina

The Clock Tower, known as Sahatkulla, is a historic landmark in Pristina, Kosovo, built in the 19th century by Jashar Pasha. Standing 26 meters tall, this hexagonal structure was originally constructed to signal prayer times and shop closures during the Ottoman Empire. Made from sandstone and bricks, the tower has a rich history, including a fire that led to its reconstruction using the original materials. The tower features a bell brought from Moldavia, although its journey to Pristina remains a mystery, especially after its theft in 2001. That same year, French KFOR troops helped modernize the tower by replacing the old clock mechanism with an electric one, blending history with contemporary updates.
