Freeway Park, a sunken park built over I-5

Freeway Park is a multi-level concrete and planted park that was constructed over the Interstate 5 freeway corridor and opened in 1976. Designed by Lawrence Halprin and Angela Danadjieva, it was one of the first large parks built as a freeway deck in the United States. The park's terraces, walkways and water features create a hidden, urban green space that conceals the freeway below.
