55 Faulkner Street, also known as 18 Nicholas Street, is a historic Grade II listed building located in Manchester's Chinatown district. Built in 1870 as a warehouse, it features distinctive brown brick architecture and has served various purposes over the years, including office space. The building was severely damaged by a fire in November 2016, which tragically claimed the lives of two homeless individuals. Following the fire, it was deemed structurally unsafe, leading to a joint investigation by police and fire services. In 2018, plans were announced to convert the building into residential flats with a restaurant on the ground floor, marking a new chapter for this significant piece of Manchester's architectural heritage.
