National Press Building (Ottawa)

The National Press Building, located on Wellington Street in Ottawa, Canada, serves as the home for the Parliamentary Press Gallery. Constructed between 1917 and 1919 in the Italian Renaissance style, the building was originally known as the Norlite Building and housed various government agencies. Due to overcrowding in the Centre Block of the Parliament buildings, journalists were relocated here in the mid-1960s. The building provides office space to a diverse range of national and international media outlets, although many larger organizations have opted for alternative locations due to its small and often described 'dingy' offices. Notably, the National Press Club is located on the second floor, and from 2008 to 2010, the building hosted a green screen studio for the Global National newscast, making it the only national newscast anchored in the capital.
