Assassination of Paul Castellano at Sparks Steak House

On December 16, 1985, Gambino crime family boss Paul Castellano was gunned down outside Sparks Steak House at 210 East 46th Street in Manhattan. The hit was carried out by gunmen associated with a faction led by John Gotti and marked a dramatic change in leadership of the Gambino family. The murder drew intensive law enforcement investigation and widespread media attention. Sparks Steak House's address is frequently cited in accounts of modern New York mob history.
