Harry Ransom Center's rare collections

The Harry Ransom Center, part of the University of Texas at Austin, is a humanities research library and museum that preserves major literary and cultural artifacts. Its collection includes a Gutenberg Bible and the world's earliest surviving permanent photograph, "View from the Window at Le Gras." The center opened in 1957 and has grown into a leading archive for literary manuscripts, photography, and performing arts materials.
