Seward Park old-growth remnant

Seward Park is a 300-acre peninsula park on Lake Washington that contains a remnant stand of old-growth conifer forest within Seattle city limits. City and forestry sources note large Douglas-fir and western redcedar in the park that are several centuries old, with some age estimates commonly reported in the 500–700 year range, making this forest patch unusually ancient for an urban park. The oldest trees and denser old-growth characteristics are concentrated on interior trails and can be easy for casual visitors to miss from the shoreline paths.
