Raxwerke

Raxwerke, located in Wiener Neustadt, Lower Austria, was a significant facility during World War II, originally part of the Wiener Neustädter Lokomotivfabrik. The site was involved in the production of military equipment, including lamps for Panzer tanks and anti-aircraft guns. Notably, it employed forced laborers from the Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp. The facility was also selected for the assembly of V-2 rocket components, contributing to the German wartime rocket program. However, it faced destruction during an air raid by the US Fifteenth Air Force in 1943, which targeted nearby military installations. Today, Raxwerke stands as a historical site reflecting the complex legacy of wartime industrial efforts and the human cost associated with them.
