Transamerica Pyramid

Completed in 1972, the Transamerica Pyramid is the distinctive 48-story skyscraper that became an iconic part of San Francisco's skyline due to its tapered, pyramid form. Designed by architect William Pereira, it was the tallest building in the city for decades and remains a notable example of late-20th-century corporate modernist architecture. Although privately owned and not generally open for public tours of its upper floors, its ground-level plaza and exterior form are widely photographed and referenced in representations of the city.
