Star Drug Store

The Star Drug Store, a historic building located in Galveston, Texas, dates back to the late 1880s and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally owned by Olympia Freybe, it became a drug store in 1906 under C. J. Michaelis. The building underwent significant remodeling in 1909 by architect Nicholas J. Clayton, who harmonized its design with a neighboring Victorian structure. In 1917, a U-shaped food and drink counter was added, and the diner continued to operate even after the drug store closed in the 1980s. After a fire in 1998, the property was restored and reopened as a diner and gift shop in 2007, making it a charming stop for visitors interested in history and local cuisine.
