2013 Boston Marathon bombing near the Boston Public Library

On April 15, 2013, two pressure-cooker bombs exploded near the Boston Marathon finish line on Boylston Street adjacent to the Boston Public Library, killing three people and injuring hundreds. The bombings prompted a multi-day manhunt across Boston and neighboring communities. One suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was captured in Watertown and subsequently tried in federal court in Boston.
