SFMOMA expansion and reopening

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) at 151 3rd Street reopened in May 2016 after a major expansion designed by Snøhetta that nearly tripled the museum's gallery space. The expansion added new galleries, public spaces, and educational facilities, enabling larger temporary exhibitions and expanded community programming. SFMOMA is one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary art in the United States and draws many local visitors for exhibitions, free community days, and public events.
