The San Francisco Columbarium at 1 Loraine Court is a late-19th-century repository for cremated remains and is noted for its distinct interior architecture and thousands of interments. Because of its function and atmosphere, it has been included in local ghost-tour routes and in media accounts that record anecdotal reports of unexplained noises and sensations by visitors. The building underwent restoration and returned to regular public access after a period of limited use during the 20th century.
