Tutein House

The Tutein House, a striking Neoclassical building located at the bustling intersection of Vimmelskaftet and Badstuestræde in central Copenhagen, was constructed in 1801 for the prominent merchant Friederich Tutein. This historic townhouse has served various purposes over the years, including housing Café Bernina, a renowned literary coffee house in the late 19th century, and the first central office of Kjøbenhavns Telefon-Selskab. The building's rich history includes its survival of the 1795 Copenhagen Fire and its transformation through adaptations in 1881. Today, it remains a significant landmark, owned by a property company linked to the Jorck family, and continues to host tenants such as the newspaper Kristeligt Dagblad.
