Cliveden (Chew House)

Cliveden, also known as the Chew House, is an 18th-century country house built for Benjamin Chew between 1763 and 1767. It was the site of heavy fighting during the October 4, 1777 Battle of Germantown and retains visible musket ball and other battle damage. Cliveden is designated a National Historic Landmark and operates as a house museum interpreting colonial-era architecture and Revolutionary War history.
