Guardian Building (Art Deco interior and tilework)

The Guardian Building is an Art Deco skyscraper in downtown Detroit completed in 1929 and designed by architect Wirt C. Rowland. Its lobby and banking hall are noted for extensive use of colorful terracotta, Pewabic and Rookwood tilework and mosaics, giving the interior an unusually vibrant palette for a commercial building of its era. The building has long been nicknamed the "Cathedral of Finance" for its ornate interior design.
